Passenger ships and ships other than passenger ships of 3000 gross tonnage and upwards, constructed on or after 1 July 2002, must carry Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs) to assist in accident investigations.

Sperry Marine is approved for Annual Performance Test for VDR/SVDR according to the latest resolution of IMO MSC Circular 1222 by classification society ABS.

Our team of experienced and skilled VDR/S-VDR Surveyors operate from our Regional Offices. They are trained and equipped to carry out VDR/S-VDR APT certification.

The annual testing of VDR/S-VDR is required by SOLAS regulation V/20. Guidelines on annual testing of VDR/S-VDR can be found in the MSC.1/Circ.1222/Rev.1, issued on 14 June 2019.
